BSW Student Scholarships
Mary Pat Mahoney Memorial Scholarship:
- one award of $600.00
- undergrad scholarship only
- must be or become a senior by the fall of the award given
- must have 2.75 overall grade point average
- must have a 3.00 grade point average in social work courses
- award will be advertised mid-late February every year (see School of Social Work main office for announcement and application details)
Craig Gordon Memorial Scholarship
- one award of $500.000 annually
- must be declared undergraduate social work major at least sophomore standing
- evidence of substantial need
- essay required
- award will be advertised fall semester every applicable year (see School of Social Work main office for announcement and application details)
Dick Shields Memorial Scholarship:
- one award of $500.00 undergrad scholarship only
- must be at least sophomore standing
- 3.0 overall grade point average
- award will be advertised mid-late February every year (see School of Social Work main office for announcement and application details)
Helen and Dan Kidder Scholarship (BSW/MSW):
- two awards of $500.00 bi-annually (even years)
- priority given to students with a gerontology focus or minor
- preference given to students who are graduates of high schools in Missoula, Lake or Flathead counties
- must have a 2.75 in all college level work
- scholarship is renewable based on conditions
- award will be advertised mid-late February every applicable year (see School of Social Work main office for announcement and application details)
Title IV-e Child Welfare Training Program
- Multiple awards of $5,000 annually
- Must plan to complete a practicum with Child and Family Services
- Must be willing to work for CFS anywhere in Montana upon graduation for a time commensurate with the number of years the scholarship is received
- Must be a junior or senior
- Overall grade point average of 3.0.
- Strong commitment to working with vulnerable children and families
External opportunities
Women’s Opportunity Award (for female Ravalli County residents):
- one award of $2,000 and eligibility to compete for a $5,000 regional award and then one of three $10,000 finalist awards
- scholarship available to women who face economic and personal hardships and are primary financial support for their family
- students will receive application announcements and details during fall semester
Fellowship Award (for female Ravalli County residents):
- one award of $1,500 and eligibility to compete for a $4,000 regional award
- applicants must have an established professional career or own a business and conduct business competently and ethically
- applicant must hold a bachelors or masters degree from an accredited institution and present a plan or post-graduate study
- students will receive application announcements and details during fall semester
Montana Gerontology Society:
- one award of $1,000 academic scholarship
- applicant must be a student at a Montana college or university
- pursing a career in the field of aging
- in need of financial assistance to achieve goals
- scholarship announced at the annual Montana Gerontology society conference in the spring
