Drug Information Services

About Us

The UM Drug Information Service is a free resource for health care professionals. Physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and allied health practitioners in all areas of medicine are invited to contact us with questions of a non-emergent nature. The service does not field calls from the general public.

The state of Montana uses the Rocky Mountain Poison Control Center (1-800-525-5040) for emergency toxicological ingestion information for both the lay public and health care providers.

Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) students in their final year of the professional pharmacy program participate in four-week experiential rotations at the Drug Information Service. Training is provided in database utilization, effective web searching, and evaluating the medical literature. During their rotation, students are required to compose a professional newsletter on a topic of interest to the health care community.
