The mission of the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) is to advance and support pharmaceutical sciences education at U.S. schools and colleges of pharmacy, in part by awarding Scholarships, Fellowships, and Grants.
AFPE achieves its mission by funding undergraduate and pre-Pharm.D. research scholarships, first year graduate school scholarships, advanced pre-doctoral fellowships in the pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacy post-Pharm.D. Fellowships in the biomedical research sciences, and pharmacy faculty new investigator grants.

 

AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF THE HISTORY OF PHARMACY

The American Institute of the History of Pharmacy wishes to encourage academic research within its scope. Therefore it offers grants-in-aid totaling $5,000 annually to graduate students to reinforce historical investigations of some aspect of pharmacy, whether ancient or modern, to pay research expenses not normally met by the university granting the degree. Any thesis project devoted to the history of pharmacy, history of drugs, or other humanistic study utilizing a pharmaco-historical approach, is eligible if based in an institution of higher learning of the USA.

 

AMERICAN PHARMACY SERVICES CORPORATION FOUNDATION
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

American Pharmacy Services Corporation (APSC) is owned and operated by independent pharmacies (shareholders).  The APSC Foundation Financial Assistance Program is designed to help students with expenses incurred while attaining a degree in pharmacy.  If you have successfully completed the requirement of a pre-pharmacy curriculum, and have been accepted to an accredited pharmacy school, you may apply for APSC Financial Assistance.  If the APSC Foundation Scholarship Committee approves your loan, the APSC Foundation Board of Directors will make available to you up to $3,000 per professional academic year. Students repay the entire scholarship/loan obligation through a work program.

 

AMERICAN PHARMACISTS ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION

This Scholarship looks to recognize those students who choose to invest in their time through active involvement with their school's APhA-ASP chapter to help shape the future of the profession while managing the demands of full time pharmacy curriculum. In 2006, eight scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded - one scholarship for each of the eight APhA-ASP regions.

ASSOCIATION FOR WOMEN IN SCIENCE

About 5-10 AWIS graduate fellowships in the amount of $1,000 are awarded each year. The four memorial awards are:

  1. Amy Lutz Rechel Award, for an outstanding graduate student in the field of plant biology,
  2. Luise Meyer-Schutzmeister Award, for an outstanding graduate student in physics (see note below),
  3. Ruth Satter Award, for an outstanding graduate student who interrupted her education for at least three years to raise a family, and the
  4. Diane H. Russell Award, for an outstanding graduate student in the field of biochemistry or pharmacology. AWIS may also award Citations of Merit ($300).

 

ECKERD PHARMACY STUDENT LOAN PROGRAM

For students interested in pursuing a career in Pharmacy, the Eckerd Pharmacy Student Loan Program provides qualified applicants with $2000 per school year, to help them meet their tuition costs. To qualify:

  • Be actively enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy and have already completed two years of pre-Pharmacy work.
  • Be a full-time student as defined by your school.
  • Maintain a good social and academic standing as defined by your school.
