UM-Health Careers Opportunity Programs Eligibility
The Health Careers Opportunity Program’s services (including SOKS, SSEP, and REACH) are intended to assist disadvantaged students with an interest in health sciences.
Who is "Disadvantaged"?
"Disadvantaged" refers to an individual who:
- comes from an environment that has inhibited the individual from obtaining the knowledge, skill and abilities required to enroll in and graduate from a health professions school, or from a program providing education or training in an allied health profession;
OR
- comes from a family with an annual earnings below federal low-income levels, as published by the Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration.

For family units with more than 8 members, add the following amount for each additional family member: $5,100 for the 48 contiguous states, the District of Columbia and outlying jurisdictions; $6,375 for Alaska; and $5,865 for Hawaii.
