How to Apply
Students with undergraduate education in the biological, pharmaceutical, or chemical sciences may apply for admission to the graduate programs in Neuroscience, Biomedical/Pharmaceutical Sciences and Toxicology.
Degree opportunities include: Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences and in Toxicology, and M.S. in Neuroscience, Pharmaceutical Sciences and in Toxicology.
Students apply for admission to the Graduate School of The University of Montana. The Graduate Admissions Committee of the Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences review applications, with selection by the department faculty, and approval by the Graduate School.
Students are encouraged to apply to the Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences no later than February 1 of the year in which they desire admission. Students usually enter the program fall semester. Applications are processed until all positions are filled. Admission is contingent upon availability of space, faculty, and financial resources.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
A complete application package:
- Submission of an on-line application form
- $46.00 application fee (paid on-line with the application)
- Three letters of recommendation
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
- Personal statement
- Official General GRE scores
- TOEFL for international students
- An interview may be requested
General Information
A minimum undergraduate or master’s GPA of 3.0 and a satisfactory score (generally around 1000 total) on the general GRE are required. Exceptions to these requirements require approval of the faculty and Chair of the Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
International students whose native language is not English and has not attended an English speaking school must present a minimum score of 540 on the paper-based version, 207 on the computer-based version, or 76 on the internet-based version of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The Institutional code for both the GRE and TOEFL exam is 4489.
In order to issue a visa to international students, the University must have received an original (not a photocopy) certified statement from a bank or government agency that sufficient funds (beyond that of any stipend received from the program) are available to meet the cost of study, living, and necessary travel. The support needed for academic year 2006-2007 is about $21,000 (U.S. currency).
